With the image open, choose the “Image size…” option. Set the size to the same number of pixels wide as your screen.
If you’re not sure of your screen size in pixels, look in the control panel to see your current resolution.
There’s a good chance your photo will be a different aspect ratio, so after setting the width, you may want to crop the height – otherwise when you display it the picture will look stretched or squashed.
