I have been shopping for a HDTV of this caliber for a few months. I was pleasantly surprised to find this television at nearly $100 less than many others I have seen in stores. The clarity is fantastic, the color is stunning. It’s design is modern and clever, and fits in well with my decor. The location of the power and volume buttons is on the side versus the lop buttons that force you to reach over the television to alter the volume or turn it off. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
I bought this TV about 2 weeks ago for $ 178.95 incl. shipping. It’s an outstanding value for the price as most products of similar quality cost easily $ 50-100 more. The picture quality is superb, I just recommended this TV to a friend.
I agree with a previous reviewer that the remote must be pointed straight at the LCD light for any remote operation.
The other minor drawback is that the favorite channels have to be accessed through the favorite list menu as the channel up and down buttons will go through all the channels that were picked up during programming, regardless whether or not they were designated as favorites.
Other than that, it’s a great little TV.
I was looking for an inexpensive set to do outdoor entertaining duty. I have a 19″ Sony and a 50″ Panasonic, so my expectations were low. When I connected the unit to a HD source with an HDMI cable, I was shocked. The picture is astonishingly good – not “good for a cheap set,” but every bit as impressive as my expensive name brands. Since it will be exposed to temperature extremes and possible condensation – even with a weatherproof cover, I have no idea what it’s lifespan will be. But at this price, it’s demise will be much easier to deal with should it succumb to the elements. I’ve only had it for a few days, but my impression of the unit right out of the box couldn’t be more positive.

The XBox VGA HD AV cable has two RCA jacks for audio. You can connect those two RCA jacks to an HDTV's RCA audio-in using two straight RCA cables. For a computer monitor with speakers you will most likely need an RCA-to-stereo-mini cable.
You need to go into your control panel and change the sound output to digital.

I would like to add that you need to keep all of your graphical user-interface on one thread since JFC Java2D AWT Swing is not thread-safe.
I hate to be that guy, but… CEC is nothing new SCART supports a version it, and it’s been around for ages. However, it is good to see it is been carried across to HDMI, it’s a feature I love.
I agree with C. Here's why. Let's say the cold black body is only warm enough to make infrared. Let's say it's glowing with 100 watts of infrared. Now, let's say you heat it up. One, it will glow visible light (shorter wavelenghts). Two, in infrared it will be even brighter (like 200 watts).

I agree with desis. Since hdmi transfers both audio and video. Connecting hdmi directly to your tv will result in sound from tv even though you hookup the head phone jack to receiver because your head phone jack wouldn't be transmitting anything. So, try to insert the hdmi from your laptop to receiver and receiver to tv. That way receiver channels the sound to the surround sound speakers and video to tv. If your receiver can process audio then it may do 5.1 surround sound setup else it could just result to stereo or mono sound.
How can u enhance the sounds from hdmi? Ive tried to hook up my a speaker direct to audio input behind the monitopr but it doesnt work. Any other ideas?
